Etsy Dallas, the original Dallas team and the first city team in Texas, is a cooperative, all-volunteer group of artists, crafters and designers living and working in Dallas who sell their work on Etsy.com. The team boasts talent from a range of mediums and crafts, and is independently run by its members.
Because of the determination of the original members, Etsy Dallas has become a force in the handmade movement, both locally and beyond. In the wake of Etsy Dallas' inception in 2007, crafty friends all over Texas have formed teams, such as Etsy Austin, Etsy 817, Etsy Fort Worth, Northeast Texas Etsy, Artisans of Houston and North Dallas Etsy. Three years later, Etsy Dallas continues to be the model as a leader in the art/craft scene.
The mission of Etsy Dallas is to promote the handmade movement in the Greater Dallas area, and beyond.
We accomplish this mission by achieving these goals:
To
promote awareness and support of the handmade movement in Dallas and the
surrounding Metroplex. To
establish and maintain the integrity of the local handmade movement. To
act as a cooperative resource and mentoring network to grow businesses within
the handmade industry. To
foster higher business standards within the handmade industry by encouraging
better business practices and methods. To
educate the public in the creation of modern handmade crafts in order to
inspire and empower individuals and bring together communities.
What We Believe
Etsy
Dallas is a group of local artists and crafters who are serious about their
hand-made businesses as well as the success of the team and its endeavors.
Members are also invested in the Dallas community, working with Etsy Dallas to
benefit different aspects of the creative community and culture that makes
Dallas a great city.
Our History: Est. 2007
Since its founding in 2007, by Stephanie (tefi) and Pamela Dowdy (Pamela Michelle) and a handful of local artists and crafters eager to spread the handmade movement across the Metroplex, Etsy
Dallas has transformed itself over the years into a tight-knit
collaborative group that supports each other's handmade endeavors
through friendship, camaraderie, dedication and work.
In December of 2007, Etsy Dallas held it's first Holiday Trunk Show with its 10 members and support from our friends and family. Over the years Etsy Dallas has hosted countless events including the Beer-B-Q trunk show, Supplies Me! Sale and Dallas' Etsy Craft Party to help gain support for local artists, raise money for local charities and create a fun creative atmosphere for people in Dallas. Beginning in 2008, the team focused its efforts into organizing two local craft shows each year, the Spring Bash in April/May and Jingle Bash in November. The Bash has garnered city-wide support and national credibility, including celebrity shoppers Colin Hanks, Tim Delaughter, Bradley Whitford and Kelly Clarkson. What is Etsy Dallas?
Etsy Dallas is a local craft collective run by a juried group of crafters, artists and designers in Dallas who sell their wares on Etsy.com.
Are you the same as Etsy? NO. We are a local craft collective. Our only affiliation with Etsy is that we all own Etsy shops and have the blessing of Etsy as being the official team for the Dallas metroplex. Based in Brooklyn, Etsy is an international online marketplace for all things handmade. To learn more, visit www.etsy.com.
How do I join?
2012 membership is closed for the year. Membership into Etsy Dallas is a juried process. Stay tuned for information on 2013 membership!
Why do you limit the number of members?
Running a craft collective is a lot of work and all of our leaders have "real" jobs, in addition to designing and managing their own handmade businesses AND a personal family life. In order to make Etsy Dallas the very best it can be with a base of active members, the team limits membership.
Can I apply for the Bash even if I'm not on the team? Yes! There are select vendor spots available to non-members. Stay tuned to the Bash web site for application information as it is made available. You may also join our Artists Only mailing list to receive email notifications.
How many shows do you do each year? Etsy Dallas hosts two trademark shows: the Spring Bash and the Jingle Bash. In 2008, Etsy Dallas hosted the first ever trunk show of its kind known as the Beer-B-Q. The team offered free burgers and beer, live music, and nearly 40 booths of local handmade art and designs. Visit Etsy Dallas' Flickr page to see photos of past events.
How do I contact you? Feel free to shoot us an email. Someone will get back to you as soon as possible. Please note: we won't be accepting new members until early 2013. For information on the Handmade Bash, click here.
Who runs Etsy Dallas? Etsy Dallas is run by a group of volunteers known as the Leadership Team.
