Craft Parties all over Texas

Dallas threw it's big Etsy Craft Party on June 18th, but also many other cities across the world threw their very own Etsy Craft Party to celebrate Etsy Inc's 5th birthday. In Texas, we had 5 major cities make it into the top 50 biggest Craft Parties in the world. That was out of about 500+ parties worldwide. Go Texas!

So to keep the party going, check out our friends Craft Party pics from Etsy Austin, Etsy Houston, and Alamo City Etsy.

Etsy Austin celebrated the Craft Party with some great DIY crafts. Over 70 people showed up to make buttons, shrinky dinks and even silk screen bags and clothing with Austin artist Amy of Craft Chi, who created some custom artwork for all the Etsy Craft Parties. How cool of them to have a crafty celebrity at the party!

Check out more of the Austin fun here.

Alamo City Handmade (formerly Alamo City Etsy) threw their party at Sew Deluxe, a San Antonio favorite station for creativity. The party brought on yummy food from G&G Moblie Bistro, make & take projects, and tons of great door prizes. Visitors enjoyed making bottle cap pinbacks, screenprinting, knitting, sewing and much more.

Check out more of this party here.

Etsy Houston, held the 2nd biggest Etsy Craft Party in the world. Go Houston! We are so proud of our sister team from the south. The Houston Party was held at Sew Crafty, and people enjoyed treats, goody bags, and DIY projects.

Check out the party slideshow and see more pics here.

Etsy Dallas Goes to Public School

Three cheers for the Austin design collective, Public School! Some Etsy Dallas folks who were selling at the first Renegade Austin show earlier this month got a chance to cheese it up in front of the camera at PS's neat-o photo booth. Class is in session! *bell rings*

Etsy Dallas Loves: Austin!

Austin, Texas is home to the birth of the handmade movement, thanks largely in part to the ladies of the original Austin Craft Mafia. We especially love Naughty Secertary Club's kitscky colorful costume jewelry and Sublime Stitching's eye-catching embroidery patterns. These crafty businesses opened the door for crafters and collectives like Etsy Dallas and Etsy Austin to blossom.

Road Trip: AustinBound!
Today, Austin boasts a host of indie businesses, in particular the burgeoning trailer movement. On a recent road trip, Etsy Dallas founder and former Austinite, Stephanie of Tefi Designs, toured some of the capitol's best indie eateries and shops. Since beads are her mainstay, Stephanie stopped by Sea of Beads in north Austin and Legendary Beads in south Austin and walked away with some great finds.

The new Parts + Labour digs at 1117 S. Congress Ave.

The shopping didn't end there! Stephanie and family spent an afternoon on South Congress and visited Parts + Labour for local handmade goods, and Tesoros, a store that specializes in imports from South America, Asia and Africa. With shopping comes hunger, so it was off to Magnolia Cafe for a Neptunian Landscape (no verde sauce) and a bottomless cup o' joe.

Owner Ellen Kinsey serves up a cake shake to Jason Wright, tireless Etsy Dallas supporter.

The trailer tour in Austin's southern sector included some great eateries. Holy Cacao offered up delicious handmade cake balls and a yummy vanilla cake shake, and Izzoz Tacos makes the best migas around. Lulu B's is known for their delish Vietnamese sandwich's, so fresh and flavorful. It was a great road trip with tons of indie shopping and handmade fun!

A Whale-Respected Man tee by Squid Ink Kollective

A Move to the Capitol City
Austin got a brand spankin' new addition this week! The super-powered screen-printing duo known as Squid Ink Kollective has ditched North Texas for our great state capitol. Browse Brian and Lynnea's bright tees, flawlessly constructed handbags, and hilarious little oddities in their etsy shop. They'll be missed, but we think they'll do so well in Austin, we can't pout for very long!
